Grandpa Lobs is reported quite ill at this writing. Extra fancy table butter 21c lb at Mangold’s
store. Eggert Oft and family entertained guests from Arlington Sunday. Johnnie Petersen has accepted a position with M.E. Smith , Omaha. Mrs. Herman Gade who is at the Wise hospital in Omaha is improving rapidly. Mr and Mrs. Wollard Fallon of Elkhorn were calling on friends here Tuesday. John Boyer of South Omaha was visiting his brother J.P., few days this week. Hall & Morris, veterinary surgeons will be in Bennington on Monday of each week. Gus Bunz received a car of agricultural implements this week. Geo. Scheef and son and M.H. Friederichsen returned from their trip to South Dakota Friday. Lawrence A. Griggee of Exeter, Neb dropped in on his brother unexpectedly Tuesday for a short visit. Misses Anna and Cora Nelson left Friday for a short visit in Iowa with friends , returning Wednesday. Bills will soon be out announcing the opening dance in the new Modern Woodman hall Saturday, July 17. Miss Anna Kobs made a trip to Omaha Wednesday appearing none the worse for her adventure Sunday. |
A street fakir with a big red wagon occupied the boards in front of Paulsen’s saloon yesterday afternoon and evening. Mrs. C.F. Gottsch presented to each German veteran at the park Sunday a beautiful boquet of flowers from her garden as a token of her esteem. The Plattduetscher State Verein convention
will be held in Bennington Sunday, July 25. This promises to be one of
the greatest events of the year. The interior of Mangold’s hall over Koch’s saloon is getting a dose of paint this week which improves the appearance of the room to a great extent. We are in receipt of a State Fair premium
list which seems to be more complete in every way than ever before. The
State Fair this year will be from Sept. 6 to 10 inclusive. The grades of the Bennington schools for the year 1908-09 are now on record and all those desiring may call for them at any time.F.C. Hollingsworth. Heavy rains for five consecutive nights have kept the Papio in a badly swollen condition. Tuesday morning it threatened to overflow its banks entirely but subsided about noon. Mrs. J. Birge of North Platte, sister of Mrs. Jerome Allen, arrived Monday evening in an automobile having driven the entire distance from North Platte.
