Mrs. G. A. Harris underwent an operation at  the Lister hospital in Omaha this week and is getting along nicely. 

Mr and Mrs. Harry Skelton and family, Mrs. N. H. Skelton and Miss Helen Skelton were dinner guests of Mr and Mrs. Raymond Close and family at Arlington Sunday. 

Mr and Mrs. R. W. Grieve of Central City spent a few days at the W. H. Seeley home. They have just returned home from California, where they spent te winter with relatives. 

The Hearts and Spades Bridge club enjoyed dinner, followed by bridge and dancing at the Powers hotel last Saturday evening. Five tabled were occupied and prizes went to Miss Helga Holst and Albert Johnson. 

Election day was “poppy day” in Waterloo, where the sale was under supervision of Mrs. Glenn Herrington, who was assisted by Miss Emma Hansen and Mrs. Meta Austin. The sale netted $11 for the Legion Auxillary. 

There were come changes on the election board this year the judges and clerks being W.H. Jacobson, F.E. Lockwood, Mrs. Nelson Bell, Mrs. Annie Rhoades, Mrs. Mary Traber, and Mrs. Jack Brookley. The counting board was composed of Miss Hazel Sumnick, Robert Herrington, B.W. Coy, B.W. Butler. 

The Happy Hour club was entertained at the home of Mrs. Mabel Johnson last Thursday afternoon., with Mrs. Lunn Hanger assisting hostess. Spring gardens and flowers were discussed. A nice lunch was served by the hostesses. The next meeting will be held with Mrs. W.E. Briggs at Valley next Thursday afternoon.

Senior C.E. at 7pm

Junior C.E. at 4:15pm Wednesday

It has been decided to hold the Junior C.E. on some week-day afternoon in order to secure better attendance and interest. Until we decide on a better time we will meet at 4:15 on Wednesday.

The Senior C.E. will leave the church in a body Sunday afternoon at 4:15pm for Fremont, where they expect to hear Billy Sunday in one of his talks to young people.

The Senior C.E. boys kittenball team will play a return game at Valley on Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock.

Mrs. Frank Lockwood and Leroy and Mr and Mrs. Carl Lockwood spent Monday evening with Mr and Mrs. Wm. Jensen in Fremont helping  Mrs. Jensen celebrate her birthday. 

Phyllis Todd celebrated her ninthe birthday last Saturday with a party for schoolmates and friends. She received a lot of nice gifts and her mother, Mrs. Walter Todd, served a nice lunch. 

The Evening Bridge club met at the homr of Mr and Mrs. Stuart Campbell Wednesday. Mrs. R. W. Rapp and  B. W. Butler had  highscores and Mrs. Stuart Campbell and Jesse Todd, low. 

Marietta, daughter of Mr and Mrs. A. L. Dygard, who has been ill for several weeks was taken to the Lister hospital  Thursday morning. Mr. Dygard returned home Wednesday to be with her. 

Mr and Mrs. O. D. Decker and family of Omaha were dinner guests at the Eugene Hollister home Sunday. In the afternoon they visited at the home of Mr and Mrs. E. D. Rhamey, and in company with the latter visited at the Ollie Decker home at Elk City. 

The state examinations for seventh and eighth grade students are being given  at the Waterloo school Thursday and Friday of this week. About seventy-five pupils from this and surrounding districts are taking the examinations which are being given by Supt.  Galen Saylor. 

Mrs. Harry Payne of Valley, Mrs. Guy McCoy and Mrs. Lawrence Coates of Waterloo were hostesses at a party given in honor of Mr and Mrs. Willard Coates  at the Legion hall in Valley last Friday evening. Cards and dancing furnished amusement and nice lunch was served. 

A number of relatives from a distance were here Monday and Tuesday to attend the funeral services held for Mrs. Laura Reyner including  Mrs. Hattie Irland of Osceola, Mrs. Jennie Gilmore of Hamburg, Ia, Mr and Mrs. F.L. Wilkerson of Laurel, Nebr. , Mr and Mrs. Chris Spiegel and Norma Clarice and George Wilkerson of Hamburg, Ia., Mr and Mrs. Alfred Wilkerson and daughter of Coleridge, Nebr., Mr and Mrs. Everett Clemer of Fullerton, Nebr., Mr and Mrs. George Irland, Mr and Mrs. Ira Irland of Osceola, Nebr., Lynn Carman and Lloyed Hazen of Cook, Nebr., Mrs. W.W. Taylor and son, Franklin of Broken Bow, Nebr.. Miss Emma Reyner of Spencer, Ia., and Mrs. Thomas Logan of Ruthoen, Ia.
