Galem Saylor when Dr. Margaret Koenig will give a book review on “The
Fountain”. The church at
Marietta burned last Sunday with a loss of $5,000 partly covered by
insurance. The fire broke out while Sunday school was in session and was
caused from an overheated furnace. A number of Waterloo people have
attended church services there, while the Rev. E. Aston was pastor of
the church. Waterloo School
Notes The Waterloo team easily defeated Springfield on the Community building court Friday evening, the score being 24 to 14. The Waterloo five took the lead at the beginning of the game and were never seriously threatened. The score at the half was 16 to 2. Springfield being held without a field goal. Brooks Moore and Robert Cunningham tied for high point honors with ten each. In the first game of the double header the Waterloo Reserves squeezed out a 6 to 5 victory over the second team from Springfield. This game was very close and exciting, and in doubt until the final whistle. These victories give
the local teams and even break in the League games five starts for Coach
McGuires’ teams to date and make three victories in. Waterloo schools will
close Friday afternoon for the Christmas holidays, and will re-open
January 2nd. The high school folks enjoyed a Christmas party at the Community building Thursday evening, and the grade pupils held Christmas parties in their rooms Friday afternoon.
