Misses Nellie and Alice
Hultgren were Omaha visitors last week. Miss Mabel Johnson and
Otto Ek of Omaha spent the week-end at the B.F. Johnson home. Mrs. Jack Brookley and
Miss Dorothy Lee Still were guests at the Gus Sumnick home Thursday
afternoon. Mr and Mrs. Earl Pulte
and Miss Vivian Mason and Lawrence Mohatt were visiting the J.J. Mohatt
home Sunday. Mr and Mrs. B.W. Bulter
visited at the Roe home at Bennington and with
Mrs. Wm. Butler in Omaha last Sunday. Mrs. John Mugan Sr. and
Mr and Mrs. John Mugan Jr. of Omaha were guests at the J.J. Mohatt home
Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Annie Rhoades
spent the week-end with home folks. She is now employed as seamstress at
the Clearview home. Dr. L. Richardson left
the Clarkson hospital Wednesday and is now recuprating at the home of Mr
and Mrs. Lawrence Coates. Edmond Creamer was here
Sunday visiting with friends. Mr and Mrs. P. Creamer are now visiting
with Mr and Mrs. Al Cochran at Madison. Mr and Mrs. J.J. Mohatt
and Fred Mohatt motored to Papillion Sunday morning to attend church and
visit with Rev. Father Hoheizel who formerly had charge of St.
Patrick’s church at Elkhorn. Miss Rose Coy of Valley
spent Sunday with Miss Della Robinson. In the afternoon they motored to
Fremont to visit with Mrs. Laurence Coy, who recently had been appointed
dean of girls at Midland college. The Willing Weeders
Garden club met at the Otto Wilson home Friday afternoon with twelve
members present. Leroy Petty and Walton Cunningham discussed “How to
Set Out Plants”. Wednesday afternoon the club went
to a hike to Indian Hill as a farewell picnic for Delmar and
Walton Cunningham, who leave soon to spend the summer in Chicago. The Happy Hour club met with Mrs. Esther Compton Thursday, June 10th. Bunco furnished entertainment for the afternoon. Mrs. Oscar Schlutter won first prize and Mrs. Robert Warren, president of the club, won the consolation prize. A delicious lunch was served by Mrs. Compton, assisted by her sister, Mrs. Shemwell. The next meeting will be held with Mrs. Lunn Hanger Thursday, June 24th.

Mr and Mrs. E.L.
Brownlee went to Fort Crook Sunday to get Harlan, who had spent a week
with his grandparents, Mr and Mrs. Wm. Brownlee. They also visited with
Mr and Mrs. Roy Denker in Council Bluffs. At the annual school meeting held in District 24 Monday night the district voted $1,800 to run the school next term which is $1,000 Less than last year.
Mrs. Robert Warren was re-elected moderator, only one teacher, Mrs.
Mabel Johnson, will be employed next term. The Willing Workers
Canning club has been reorganized for the second years work. Officers
are , Merna Cunningham, president; Peggie Dean, vice president; Mabel
Cunningham, secretary; Alta Gates, news reporter; Doris Jacobson,
assistant reporter. The first meeting of the year was held Thursday
morning. Miss Eleanor McGinness entertained at the Chas. Grewcock home Wednesday evening of last week in honor of the birthday of her sister, Miss Mildred. Guests were Mr and Mrs. Guy Morse, Mr and Mrs. Charles Grewcock, Mrs. Neva McGinness, Miss Mildred McGinness, Howard Lindmeyer, George Crook and Merle Woste. Ben Safford was
re-elected director at the annual meeting at District 14 held Monday
night. The district voted $1,500 to run the school next year, which was
the same levy as last year. Mr and Mrs. E.T. Robinson and Mrs. J.C. Robinson motored to Sioux City Sunday and were accompanied home by Carol Jean Robinson who had been visiting with relatives at Sioux Falls, S.D. The Waterloo master
bridge players were downed by the sharks from Ashland at a session
Tuesday night at the E.T. Robinson home. This makes the score even as
the Waterloo boys won the last session. Mr and Mrs. E.T. Robinson and children will leave Friday for Mankato, Minn., where Mrs. Robinson and children will spend several weeks. Mr. Robinson will go to Chicago to attend a seedmen’s convention.
